FAQs

How do I book?

All new bookings can be made though our booking page. Our booking policy can be found there too.

I need to reschedule/cancel. How do I do that?

All rescheduling/cancelling should be done through our booking page. If you’re having trouble with something, just let us know and we’ll do our best to help.

How can I book a patch test?

Again, through our booking page (sensing a theme?)

We need to do your patch test in person at our studio at least 48 hours before your appointment, so bear this in mind if you’re snapping up a last minute slot - we are only open 4 days a week, and we can’t offer patch tests over the weekend.

If you arrive for a service which requires patch testing and we don’t have an up to date patch test record for you, unfortunately we won’t be able to complete your chosen treatment and you will still be charged for your slot.

I’ve had a similar treatment before. Do I need a patch test?

For any services that involve tint, lash lifts, lamination or bleaching, you need to have been patch tested within the last 6 months for your chosen treatment. Even if you’ve been patch tested elsewhere or had the treatment by another provider. They’re for your safety (and to protect our business), so we do not offer a ‘waiver’ or anything similar.

The only services which do not require a patch test are facial waxing and brow shaping (no tint).

Is Apotek women-only?

Nope. Apotek is a haven for all genders. If you have any specific questions or requests, just let us know. We don’t assume client’s preferences on their aesthetic so feel free to be specific (for example, if you are looking for gender-affirming treatment). We can also arrange an enhanced consultation if that would be helpful to you.

Can I have a treatment if I am pregnant/breastfeeding?

Short answer: it depends. Drop us a message and we can better advise you.

Is Apotek vegan-friendly?

Yes! Apotek’s founder is vegan and is very keen to ensure everyone gets a slice of the action. We’ve worked hard to curate excellent vegan-friendly options for every one of our services. Just make sure to tick the “I require vegan services” box when you fill out your consultation form.

What about accessibility?

Our studio is private and your session will usually be 1-1. It’s within Milburn House which is a listed, Victorian building. As such, we unfortunately aren’t able to make any permanent changes outside of our immediate studio (handrails, ramps, signage etc).

MOBILITY

There is step-free access to the building via the Dean St entrance and lift access from all floors to our studio. Our out of hours entrance on floor C is not step free, so get in touch if that doesn’t work for you. We have another secret door up our sleeve!

Our studio isn’t huge, but there is plenty of room to manoeuvre a standard wheelchair. Our doorways also accommodate this. Larger mobility aids may be different, so please drop us a message to check.

Treatments are usually given in a barber’s chair (adjustable headrest, height and incline, supports 150kg/24st). Most treatments can also be given in a wheelchair. We have cushions to hand for your comfort- just ask.

FACILITIES
There is an accessible, gender neutral bathroom on our floor as well as a women’s bathroom directly next door to our studio. There is a men’s bathroom on the floor above and below us.

COMMUNICATION

If you’re hearing impaired then feel free to let your therapist know. They will know to make sure you can see them properly during conversations, and reduce music volume if you need.

SOUND

We usually have some sort of music playing, but we’re happy to turn it down/off if that’s better for you. Feel free to bring headphones if you’d like to listen to your own music or audiobook, or just for sound cancellation.

If you prefer a chat-free appointment, just select the “silent treatment” add-on when you book. Many people choose this option and we will not be offended.

LIGHTING

Although we need good lighting for treatments, they are dimmable and mobile. Let us know if you find it a bit intense.

SMELLS

Some products we use are unavoidably scented, but we will happily minimize studio smells for your comfort (therapist’s perfume, room fragrance, etc).

EXTRA TIME

Need breaks to move around during your treatment? Or a little longer for a consultation to allow for thinking time and communication? No problem. Select the “extra time” add on. If you don’t think it’s enough time, let us know and we can help.

It’s really important to us at Apotek that as many people as possible can comfortably access our treatments. If we’ve missed something or you have a specific request, please get in touch. Your feedback might help us to make things better for everyone!

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course! Just drop us a message ahead of time to let us know.

What about kids or fur babies?

Although we love both, we respectfully request that you come to your appointment without anyone to take care of. Assistance animals are welcome.

Is there parking nearby?

There is an NCP car park on Dean St opposite the building, as well as on-street parking directly outside the Dean St entrance. If those are full, there is other parking on the Quayside and at Manors metro station. Add a little buffer time to allow for settling up, nattering etc.

How/when do I pay for my treatment?

Your appointment will be secured with a deposit of 50% upon booking. The balance is paid after your treatment by cash, or can be charged to the card you paid your deposit with. If you prefer, you can opt to pay in full upon booking.

What is the aftercare for my treatment? Is there anything I should avoid prior to my appointment?

Head to our blog for full pre/aftercare advice.
