What is brow lamination?

After brow lamination (and lash lift)

If it weren’t for brow lamination, I wouldn’t be a salon owner. Let me explain.

Back when I was a full time makeup artist, there was only so much that could be done with brows. If they were super thin, we could fill them with pencil, pomade or brow powders and give them texture with gel. But really - you can only work with what you’ve got. For wild, curly or unruly brows, we could use strong-hold products like gel and soap, but beyond that? You were on your own. That is, until brow lamination.

The first time I saw a before and after snap from a Russian brow tech, I was instantly obsessed. “THIS IS MAGIC. I have to know how it’s done.” So I trained, and the rest is history. But what exactly is brow lamination and how does it work?

Brow lamination reshapes and grooms your eyebrows using a special solution and a gentle lifting process. The treatment is designed to enhance the natural shape and fullness of your brows, giving them a more defined and polished look. Essentially, it's like a perm for your eyebrows, but instead of curling your hairs, it sets them in a more uniform direction.

During the procedure, we tech apply a lifting solution to your eyebrows, which softens the hairs. This makes it easier to manipulate your eyebrow hairs into your desired shape. Your brow hairs will then be combed lovingly into the desired shape and a setting solution to hold them in place. A custom brow tint restores colour to your brows and give the fullest, most defined finish. They’ll then be shaped using waxing, threading and/or tweezing. The entire process typically takes around 45 minutes to an hour, and the results can last for six-eight weeks. The length of time that your brow lamination results will last depends on various factors, including the natural growth cycle of your eyebrow hairs and how well you take care of them after the treatment.

What are the benefits of brow lamination?

Brow lamination can give your brows a fuller, more shapely appearance with less time at the mirror. It's also a great option for people with unruly or hard-to-manage brow hairs, as the treatment can help to tame and control them. Additionally, brow lamination is a more affordable alternative to microblading or other semi-permanent brow treatments.

Is brow lamination safe?

Yep! It’s important to carefully assess the quality of your brow hairs before a treatment, so make sure you book with a professional technician you trust.

What is the aftercare for brow lamination?

After your brow lamination appointment, it's important to take proper care of your eyebrows to ensure the best possible results.

  • Avoid getting your eyebrows wet for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

  • Don't apply any makeup or other cosmetic products to your eyebrows for at least 24 hours.

  • Avoid touching or rubbing your eyebrows for at least 24 hours. Oils from your fingers can affect the result, as can moving the hairs around too much.

  • Apply a nourishing brow serum or oil daily (we recommend Brow Slick) to help keep your brows healthy and strong. This will drastically increase the length of time that your lamination looks sleek.

  • Book an Inbetweener maintenance appointment for around 4-5 weeks post-lamination. This maintenance appointment includes a reshape, tint and nourishing Elleplex Regen protein treatment.
