Brow & Lash Aftercare: 101
Brow Lamination
Brow lamination is an incredible treatment, but there are a few things you need to do to keep up your end of the bargain. Here are my tips to maintain a brow lamination and keep your skin and brows healthy.
Avoid getting your eyebrows wet for at 24 hours post-treatment.
Don't apply any makeup or other cosmetic products to your brow area for at least 24 hours.
Hold off from using retinoids, exfoliants, AHAs, tanning products and skin peels for at least a week.
Avoid touching or rubbing your eyebrows for at least 24 hours. Oils from your fingers can affect the result, as can moving the hairs around too much.
It’s essential to use a nourishing brow serum or oil daily (we recommend Brow Slick) to help keep your brows healthy and strong. This will drastically increase the length of time that your lamination looks sleek.
Although your brows will be much more flexible and co-operative, you’ll probably still need something to hold them in place day-to-day. A simple clear brow gel or balm usually does the trick!
Book an Inbetweener maintenance appointment for around 4-5 weeks post-lamination. This maintenance appointment includes a reshape, tint and nourishing Elleplex Regen protein treatment.
Final (bougie) tip: Invest in a silk or satin pillowcase. Honestly. Your brows will thank you for it (not to mention your hair, skin and lashes)!
Waxing
Everyone’s skin responds differently to waxing. Seasonal changes, hormones, medication, daily routine and skincare can all contribute to how well waxing works for you. Here are some tips for a smooth ride:
Hands off! Refrain from touching or scratching the waxed area immediately after the procedure to prevent irritation or infection.
Avoid applying makeup on the waxed area for at least 24 hours to minimize the risk of causing irritation or breakouts.
Cleanse the waxed area with a gentle (preferably fragrance-free and non-foaming) cleanser to remove any residual wax and soothe the skin. Pat the area dry with a clean, soft towel..
No active skincare around your brows for at least a week to avoid irritating the sensitive skin. This includes AHAs, exfoliants, peels and retinoids. A general rule - use caution if the packaging says “brightening”, “smoothing” or “anti-aging”.
Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, or natural bodies of water for at least 24-48 hours to prevent infection.
Steer clear of direct sunlight, tanning beds, and other sources of UV rays for 24-48 hours post-waxing. If you need to be outside, wear SPF and hat to shield your brows.
If you can avoid getting sweaty for 24 hours, you’ll reduce your risk of breakouts.
Skip hot showers, baths, saunas, and steam rooms for the 24 hours, as the heat can increase sensitivity and promote inflammation.
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
Lash Lifts
Keep your lashes dry for 24 hours post-lift. This includes avoiding mascara.
Lash curlers are absolutely off-limits. Using a curler on lifted lashes can cause damage and even breakage.
Be gentle when removing makeup. Make sure your cleanser is suitable for the job - for example, use an oil or balm to remove waterproof mascara.
Use a lash conditioning treatment. We love Elleeplex Advanced Aftercare.
Feel free to use a lash growth serum, but be aware that this prolongs the life of your lash lift. So don’t book your next one too soon!
Lashes must be completely back to normal (fully grown out) before having another lash lift treatment. You can however book a conditioning tint boost in between, if they need a colour refresh.
